In Memory of David B Meister

David Bradley Meister, born on October 7, 1937, in Sandusky, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home of 56 years on December 29th, 2024, in Springfield, Ohio.

David graduated from Springfield High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. at 17 years old. He was honorably discharged in 1958 and worked briefly as a United States Postal Carrier before enrolling at Ohio University in Athens. There he met his wife Donna Vandenberg, and the two were married in 1964. After graduation the couple moved to Springfield and he began a 30+ year career at International Harvester/Navistar shortly thereafter.

Throughout his life he enjoyed a wide range of activities including cars, fishing, tools, photography, woodworking, music, and travel, visiting all 50 U.S. states after his retirement. He enjoyed humor, random facts, and conversation, especially having the last word.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Bradley Meister, and brother William Bradley Meister. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna (Vandenberg); two children, Devin and (Amy) Meister, and Darlene (Dean Oller); four grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa) Meister, Alyson Meister, Macy Oller, and Luke Oller; and two great-grandchildren Emerson and Iola Meister.
